The Game Changer
You probably know this feeling.
One day you learn something new that immediately clicks into your mind. That makes you see things from a different perspective.
From that moment, you've changed and you can't go back in time.
I've gone through this situation several times in different areas: financials, productivity... but today I'll share the learning that made me change as a content creator.
Let’s Do One Exercise Together
If you're reading these lines I'll assume you're a content creator or, at least, have a presence on social media.
OK, let's imagine that tomorrow you wake up and find all your social media accounts are banned or deleted:
- There's no audience for your tweets.
- No one can watch your Youtube videos.
- Your Medium readers can't access your stories anymore.
This is the Key Asset
When you grow a social media account, call it Twitter, Medium, or Youtube, your followers belong to that platform.
The platform is the bridge between you and your audience.
If there's no platform because your account is banned or deleted, there's no bridge between you and your audience.
So, you have to build one.
And this will be your key asset: Your mailing list.
Now you may be thinking: But why do I need a mailing list if I don't plan to send anything?
Let me tell you something, you can build it anyway. There's no need to have a Newsletter in place.

Final Thoughts
The sooner you get awareness about this reality and start working on it, the better.
The mail marketing world is a complex one. And it would require not one, or two posts, but a series.
- Which platform should I use?
- How could I start collecting this data?
- Do I need to be an expert to start?
If you're interested in any of these points, let me know in the comments below.
I will close this post with two questions for you:
- Why are so many people on Twitter/LinkedIn giving away products?
- Do you think they want to make your life easier?
No, they don't. They are looking for an exchange.
I would love to read your comments below. If you prefer you can also send me a DM on Twitter.
